R.I.P. Dave Lynch

Yesterday I attended a motorcycle show at Mondello Park. The day was going great with some good action on and off the track until the feature race came to an abrupt end after a multiple bike accident at the first corner resulted in a rider losing his life. Witnessing something like this brings many things in to perspective but one old saying comes straight back to mind:

Live your life to the full
Any day could be your last
Follow your hopes and dreams
Leave the bad stuff in the past

RIP Dave Lynch, deepest sympathy to all friends and family.

January to April

It’s hard to believe we are in to the month of May already. This is my favourite click of the year so far. I wouldn’t be a particular fan of this church from a photography point of view. Like so many of the modern churches, the quality of the lighting overall is pretty poor. Mixing in the natural light coming in from the top improves things no end. The lines on the ceiling lead your eye to the couple and the spotlights give a bit of sparkle. I think the combination of these elements in the shot sets the scene beautifully:

Battens Bike Run

Bee For Battens are hosting a charitable motorcycle run on 22nd May. It’s looking like it’s going to be a big turnout with up to 100 bikes taking part on the day going from Keel in Kerry (home of the Heffernan children who suffer from Battens disease) to Bandon, Clonakilty, Skibereen, Glengariff and back in to Kerry via Kenmare. I’m currently raising sponsorship to go on the run, so please contact me on email@niallmcgann.com if you would like to donate.

Some might ask why would I sponsor you to go on a motorbike run?? Well it’s not all fun. We will be taking in some of the most twisty treacherous roads in the two counties with all the usual hazards found in such places (100ft drops, sheep, stray dogs, 20mph 1992 Carinas, killer potholes and all manner of agricultural contraptions…). So I’m kidding, it’s all big fun :)

Seriously, if you don’t fancy sponsoring me, you can always donate directly to the charity via their site (www.beeforbattens.org). Check it out for more information - it’s a very worthy cause.
